Near record crowds for this years National Western Stock Show

Denver, CO – Despite a polar vortex and artic bomb hitting over the MLK Jr. holiday weekend dropping digits into the negatives, the 2024 National Western Stock Show saw near record numbers this year! 

NWSS president Paul Andrews told 9News this years ranked in the top 10 most attended in history.  

In fact, when Denver was hit with plunging temperatures, every single rodeo still ended up sold out. 

This past weekend was the final weekend of the National Western Stock Show, which for many Colorado residents means its times to take down their Christmas decorations following a 100+ year tradition

This weekend not only saw the final rodeo events, but also the  Auction of Junior Livestock Champions which also saw almost record breaking #’s bringing in $548,000, just $37,000 shy of last years record sale amount.  13-year-old Croix Reimann from South Dakota sold the Grand Champion Steer named Frosty who is a Charolais cross breed and was sold for $185,000.  

Many calories were also consumed over the last 16 days with featured food items such as turkey legs, bacon wrapped hot dogs, pork chop on a stick and more!
