Last night was pumpkin carving night at my house, and I was once again reminded of how much I dislike getting all the guts out of the inside of the pumpkins. I can only imagine the time and effort it takes to get the guts out of an over 1,000 pound pumpkin, but it’ll happen on Halloween in Denver!

One of the largest pumpkins grown in Colorado will be carved on Tuesday (Oct. 31) on the concrete pad at the top of the UMB Amphitheater at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

The pumpkin, named “Sweet Love,” was grown in Parker and weighs 1,687 pounds. Professional pumpkin carver Willy Tuz will carve a botanical design into “Sweet Love” starting tomorrow morning, and the public is invited to watch.

You can watch the pumpkin carving from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting. All you need is a general admission pass to the garden.
