Coach Prime isn’t the only celebrity bringing hype to college athletics in Colorado. Brock Lesner who is a legend in the pro wrestling and MMA worlds has a daughter who may be as good or better than her dad at her sport, and she competes in Colorado.
Mya Lesnar is the first women’s indoor track and field national champion in Colorado State history, as she won the shot put competition at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston on Saturday.
Her fourth throw was the winning one, hitting a mark of 18.53 meters (roughly 60 feet, 8 inches).
Lesnar is CSU’s first indoor national champion since 2018, when Mostafa Hassan won the shot put for the second year in a row.
The only other women’s national champion for CSU’s track and field program came outdoors, when Loree Smith won the hammer throw in 2005 at the outdoor NCAA championships.
Lesnar is a junior who previously attended Arizona State.
