Was John Elway wrong for handing the Super Bowl trophy to the Chiefs?

A lot of Denver Broncos fans are pretty upset on social media today after Broncos legend John Elway was at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Sunday night. What he was doing at the game is what has everyone up in arms…
Fans are upset because once the game ended and the Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years, it was Elway of all people presenting them with the Lombardi Trophy. He walked it through the players all the way to the stage before the party and interviews started.
It turns out Elway was an “honorary captain” for the game, and this was just part of his duties. In other words, Elway was the guy to hand off the trophy no matter which team won, it just turned out that one of the Broncos most-hated rivals happened to be the winners…
It certainly burned a little to watch as a Broncos fan, but is Elway to blame?
