Traffic Alert: C-470, Santa Fe Interchange shutdown to cause delays for 5 days.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that the interchange at U.S. Highway 85/South Santa Fe Drive and Colorado Highway 470 will be closed for a week for a road-widening and Sante Fe bridge replacement project. The project started in October 2022 and is set for completion in the fall of 2025.

The closure will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, and last until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14.

The full, five-day closure may seem like a complete traffic mess now, but the improvements that will come from it are worth it, officials said.

During this time, through traffic will not be open for either highway.

Drivers going either direction on C-470 will be routed onto the access road for the intersection before rejoining the highway. However, drivers will have to take side streets if they normally switch to US 85 at the interchange .

Drivers on US 85 will also be rerouted to side streets , according to the department.

Significant delays are expected because of this. Some alternate routes have been suggested for those who take either road or would like to avoid the traffic.
