10. Being Superheroes for a Day

There is only one radio station in Colorado that we love more than KYGO, and you may have never  heard of it. It is the Seacrest Studios at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Seacrest Studios hosts daily radio shows, which air throughout the hospital. Three of our favorite people: Tracy Dixon, Kathy Sabine and Kory Brunson, held their own Superhero themed broadcast with the children at the hospital. The day was full of fun radio games, singing, dancing and Tracy LOSING in College of Hollywood Knowledge LIVE!

9. Celebrating Jake Owen’s Album Release

One of our favorite events every summer is Cheyenne Frontier Days. This year, our good friend Jake Owen performed the night before the release of his album “American Love.” An album release in Cheyenne definitely called for a celebration! Before his show Jake hung out with 50 lucky KYGO listeners and introduced them to his new album. He played songs off the album and answered audience questions. The event was hosted by KYGO’s afternoon DJ, Paul Donovan.

8. Giving Away THOUSANDS of Dollars to Local KYGO Listeners

Talk about boosting the local economy, eh?  We truly believe that it pays to listen and we love when our loyal listeners win!

Do phrases like  “Work Day Pay Day”, “Grand in Your Hand”, “1K Song of the Day” sound familiar? We’ve given away more money than we can count in 2016, and we don’t plan on slowing down in 2017! We will be launching our $1,000 Song of the Day contest on January 5th!

7. Celebrating Colorado Sports Teams

Remember when Dierks Bentley played the NFL kickoff in Denver?! That’s because country artists LOVE our city! And we LOVE our teams. KYGO was out and about this year cheering on all of our sports teams, from the Super Bowl parade to Rockies Opening Day to supporting the Rapids on the 4th of July. The KYGO blue and yellow goes well with any Colorado team!

6. Sending 25,000 Cards to Troops Overseas

We  asked for 10,000 cards, yet we received more than 25,000. If that doesn’t say something about the passion and thoughtfulness of our community, then we aren’t sure what does. In our 3rd year of “10,000 for the Troops” we were overwhelmed by the support from schools, businesses, churches and everyone else who participated. All 70 boxes of cards were shipped across the world to men and women serving our nation. The holiday wishes were greatly appreciated and we could not have done this without our incredible partners at Buckley Air Force Base.

5. Throwing Blake Shelton a Surprise 40th Birthday Party

If you missed Country Jam 2016…. we’re sorry… Not only did Blake Shelton turn 40 the night he performed at Country Jam, he brought, special guest, Gwen Stefani on stage to join him! Of course, KYGO couldn’t let Blake play a concert on his birthday without the appropriate celebration. A few lucky listeners dressed up in party hats and surprised Blake backstage while singing and delivering the singer cupcakes and fun gifts. Blake was definitely surprised and overjoyed to celebrate his birthday in Colorado. So much so that we believe that is why he did a SURPRISE concert at The Grizzly Rose just one month later in July. What a guy that Blake Shelton…See Blake’s reaction here.

4. Collecting Christmas Gifts for 4,000 Local Children

KYGO’s Christmas Crusade for Children just wrapped up it’s 34th year in business. The Crusade is an initiative created and still run by local law enforcement to provide local children in need gifts for Christmas. Police Officers take note, throughout the year, of children in the community who may not receive any gifts for Christmas due to varying circumstances. The officers then nominate these children to be sponsored by KYGO listeners. Stories are read on-air for three weeks and listeners are encouraged to call in and sponsor a child. This year we had close to 4,000 local children nominated and sponsored!

Texas country star Casey Donahew heard about Christmas Crusade while he was in town just before Thanksgiving and asked if he could support this effort. Midway through his performance at The Grizzly Rose, Donahew stopped playing and brought a basket of goodies on stage to auction off as a fundraiser for KYGO’s Christmas Crusade. We were blown away when Casey was able to raise $10,000 to be donated right there on stage!

3. St. Jude Jam!

Is it time for St. Jude Jam 2017 yet? This show was the quickest sell out The Grizzly Rose has ever seen, and if you take a look at the star studded line up, you will know why. Easton Corbin, Chase Rice, Maddie & Tae, Eric Paslay, Cam, Kelsea Ballerini and Big & Rich all came to Denver for an acoustic show to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With three accoustic sets from these amazing artists the night was one that we will never forget, for a cause we love to support.

2. Raising Half a Million Dollars for St. Jude

Speaking of St. Jude… In 2016, KYGO was able to raise more than $500,000 for the hospital! Between St. Jude Jam, Radiothons and more, KYGO listeners helped us support our favorite cause through the Country Cares campaign. With the overwhelming support of the KYGO community we are excited to grow our longstanding partnership with St. Jude and see what impact we can make in 2017.

There is no better feeling than when you ask an audience “HOW DO YOU SPELL COUNTRY?” and without hesitation, the overwhelming response is K-Y-G-O.  There is not doubt in our mind that KYGO listeners are the BEST listeners! Whether it be seeing blue and yellow fill the parking lots before concerts or hearing the excitement on the phone when someone FINALLY beats Tracy in College of Hollywood Knowledge, we thank you for your love of KYGO. We can’t wait to share 2017 with you! #985KYGO
