The Denver Outlaws Lacrosse Team is Coming Back After Three Years
By Shawn Patrick on November 14, 2023
Between 2006 and 2020 Denver was home to one of the premiere teams in Major League Lacrosse (MLL). The Denver Outlaws continuously were towards the top of the league in attendance, and brought three league championships to the Mile High City. Sadly, they folded in 2020 as the MLL merged with the Premier Lacrosse League.
However, the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced league expansion this week, and that includes a return for pro outdoor lacrosse in Denver!
In choosing Denver as one of it’s expansion markets, the PLL definitely took interest in the fact that Denver led MLL in average attendance in 12 of 14 seasons from 2006-19, bolstered by a Fourth of July fireworks game that annually drew more than 25,000 fans and peaked with 31,644 in 2015.
The PLL’s tour-based model will still be intact for next year, meaning the Outlaws will host a doubleheader in Colorado on one weekend of the 10-week regular season, but no word on where those games will be played just yet.
