I really thought that the pandemic would create a resurgence in drive-in movie theaters, but I was wrong… The Denver Metro area still only has one! But that one is now open for the season.
According to their website, the 88 Drive In Theatre is the last remaining original drive-in in the Denver metro area, serving the community since 1972. Its been owned by the current family since 1976.
The theater in Commerce City has a giant screen, state of the art digital projector and 35mm film capabilities. Their friendly staff is always available to serve you delicious snacks in their historic Snackbar.
The theater located at 8780 Rosemary Street in Commerce City opens rain or shine Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at 7pm. They are closed Monday through Wednesday. Tickets are only sold at the box office for that evening’s program. They do not sell advance tickets or group packages.
Right now their website says they’re featuring “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Fast X,” but those movie selections are subject to change.
