The Colorado Rockies just retired one of their uniforms, the last of its kind in MLB
By Shawn Patrick on January 30, 2024
During the 90’s and early 2000’s there was a trend where nearly all Major League Baseball (MLB) teams had at least one uniform that featured a vest. The Colorado Rockies were the last to get the memo that those are not out of style, but they are finally ditching there’s next year.
First introduced in 2005, the black vests became a signature in 2007 for Colorado’s Rocktober run where they made their only World Series appearance. The team continued to use the uniforms at least as an alternate through the 2021 season.
The Rockies ditched their black vest uniform from the rotation in 2022, replacing it with the green Colorado license plate-inspired City Connect uniforms, but the team officially kept them active.
Going into 2023, the last vest in MLB, Colorado’s black vests, will officially be gone.
