If you’re shopping around for the cheapest airfares, a new report from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics may help. It reveals the average domestic ticket prices by airport for 2022.

It finds that in general, smaller airports near larger metro areas have the best prices, while small, isolated airports tend to be more expensive. Smaller airports also tend to have low-cost carriers, which usually have lower fares. But cost aside, bigger airports do come with some benefits you don’t get at smaller airports, including that more daily departures mean if your flight gets canceled, you have more options to rebook.

Although the options are limited for commercial flights, the airport in Loveland, CO is among the cheapest…

  1. San Bernardino, California
  2. Santa Maria, California
  3. Ogden, Utah
  4. Provo, Utah
  5. Stockton, California
  6. Concord, North Carolina
  7. Fort Collins/Loveland, Colorado
  8. Wilmington, Delaware
  9. Trenton, New Jersey
  10. Hagerstown, Maryland

The bad news here is currently the airport doesn’t have a single commercial flight available.
