Former Denver Nugget Carmelo Anthony is Mad Because Nikola Jokic is Wearing Number 15

Maybe I am biased because I am NOT a Carmelo Anthony fan… Not a fan of the way he left Denver, not a fan of the way he treated the city or the fans, and definitely not a fan of the way he is acting lately regarding the Nuggets.

During the latest episode of his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Anthony, who played his first eight seasons in the NBA with the Nuggets, voiced a complaint about how the franchise was quick to offload his No. 15 jersey to Jokic, describing the act from Denver as a “petty maneuver” and means for the organization to minimize his legacy.

“It wasn’t like, ‘You’ve got numbers to choose from,'” Anthony said. “It’s like, ‘Here, you got 15.’ And ya’ll put Jokic in the middle of that.” “What I believe is that they gave him 15 to erase what I did,” Anthony went on to say.

All the while Carmelo also said Denver should retire his No. 15.

Jokic has said in the past that he picked the number as a minor-league player in Serbia simply because it was the biggest jersey the coach had at the time, and he’s stuck with it because it suited him… Sorry Carmelo, it had nothing to do with and when the number 15 does hang in the rafters at Ball Arena it will and should say “Jokic” above it.
