Wellington, Colorado, seven-year-old Zander has always dreamed of going to LEGOLAND, but when he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in late 2021, checking items off of his dream-list became a priority for his family.

In July, Zander’s family set up a lemonade stand outside their home to raise money to take him to LEGOLAND, but poor weather meant they fell short of their goal.

Local TV station, Denver 7, found out about his wish to get to LEGOLAND and stepped in to help make it possible.

After a story about Zander aired in mid-July, an anonymous donor contributed $34-hundred toward their trip.

Then LEGOLAND learned of Zander’s situation and chipped in six two-day passes to their California park. They also sent Zander a stuffed toy and a LEGO set.

Now the family has a trip to LEGOLAND California planned for Christmas this year all paid for by donations to Denver 7 Gives. Zander’s mom, Nichole Guarrillo, has been blown away by the generosity of their community. “I don’t even know. I have no words,” she says. “It’s very generous — both parties doing this for us.”

With the trip still months away, Zander has plenty of time to finish up his LEGO set and get excited to realize his dream of a LEGOLAND vacation.
