Colorado’s newest ski area is actually just a hill on some farmland, an hour north of Denver

When you think skiing in Colorado, you likely think about the big resorts in the mountains, but the newest ski area in our state is actually just a hill on some farmland in Weld County… 

A couple miles south of Windsor, 3 miles east of I-25, is Hoedown Hill… Colorado’s newest ski area and tubing hill that celebrated its grand opening at the end of January. 

Hoedown Hill has four trails covered by snowmaking and floodlights, two small terrain parks, two tubing hills, a ski and snowboard school, and four conveyor belts that move skiers, riders and tubers uphill.

Just as Colorado mountain resorts honor their mining history, Hoedown Hill celebrates its farming roots. The restaurant and bar are located in a 90-foot metal grain bin called The Grainhouse. 

Hoedown Hill is open from 9 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and is open 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Ticket prices for skiing, riding and tubing are $35.
