Even casual mixed martial arts (MMA) fans know the name Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The warrior fought 38 times in the UFC and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2023. Now he’s going to try his hand in the only sport that may be more violent than MMA, bull riding!
Cerrone, who was born in Denver and began his career in Commerce City at a gym called Freedom Fighters, was known throughout his MMA career as a guy who would take on anyone, anytime, anywhere. So it really should be no surprise that he is willing and ready to ride a bull.
UFC CEO, Dana White, has a side project owning a bull in Professional Bull Riders (PBR), called Twisted Steel. White posted on his X page, “so for those of you that don’t know I own a bull. His name is Twisted Steel and he bucks in PBR. So this last weekend, he was bucking at MSG, Cowboy Cerrone was there and Cowboy Cerrone called him out saying that he wants to ride my bull.” He told his fans. “So, Cowboy Cerrone, So I think the best date would be Saturday, May 18th, during the PBR finals at ATNT Stadium in Dallas, Texas. So I will donate $50,000 to the charity of your choice for you to ride him. If you last 8 seconds, I’ll give you a $100,000.” White declared as the video ends.
Cerrone has announced he’ll be training with one of the greatest bull riders of all time, JB Mauney, so you’re saying there’s a chance??
