There’s a call for boycotting A Dog’s Purpose. The family friendly film arrives next week, on January 27th.

TMZ exposed a disturbing video of a German Shepherd being forced into water churned by six outboard boat engines. It happened during the shooting of A Dog’s Purpose. This animal obviously doesn’t want to swim that day. At the end of the video, the dog is seen overcome by the turbulent waves and nearly drowned. The crew frantically screams to cut the outboard engines.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the film’s director and voice actor Josh Gad expressed outrage at what they saw in the TMZ video. Universal Pictures said the dog balked on the day of the shoot even after days of rehearsals. They concluded in their written statement that this German Shepherd named “Hercules is happy and healthy.”

Should the movie be pulled from theaters? Let us know in the comments section on our Facebook post!
