Boulder, Colorado’s Folsom Field is Finally Getting a Video Screen Upgrade
By Shawn Patrick on November 8, 2023
All college football eyes have been on the University of Colorado this season with coach Deion “Prime” Sanders at the helm, and one thing people all over the country have noticed is the Buffaloes tiny little “big” screen at Folsom Field.
That is finally going to change… CU Athletic Director Rick George said Wednesday that the program will begin construction on the a video board on the south end of Folsom Field that will be ready for the 2024 season.
Colorado said the new video board will be more than five times the surface area of the old board.
The video board will also go from being one of the smallest in the Power 5 conferences to above the national average of all schools within those conferences.
The new board will measure 130 feet wide by 36 feet high, 8 feet taller than the current board and 98 feet wider, or about the same width of the ribbon board under the current video board, which measures 32 feet by 28 feet.
Construction will begin in January and is expected to be finished for CU’s season opener Aug. 31, 2024, against North Dakota State. CU said funding is ongoing for the project and interested fans can donate online to the project.
