1. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been held almost every year since 1924, with only three cancellations during World War II.

2. This year’s parade will involve 5,000 volunteers, 16 featured character balloons, 26 floats, and 32 heritage and novelty balloons.

3. The tallest balloon in the parade this year is 56 feet, and the longest balloon is 73 feet.

4. Balloons in the parade can weigh up to 400 pounds and hold 12,000 cubic feet of helium.

5. The 2023 parade will feature the ninth Snoopy balloon, a nod to the 50th anniversary of Peanuts’ Beagle Scouts.

6. Balloon pilots walk the 2.5-mile route of the parade backward.

7. The largest float in this year’s parade is 3.5 stories tall and depicts Santa’s Sleigh.

8. The floats have to break down to fit through the Lincoln Tunnel in New York City.

9. The Parade Studio team puts in over 8,000 hours of work to put on the show. They use 2,000 gallons of paints and 375 paint brushes.
